A connection between northern democrats free soilers and conscience Whigs in 1854 was that they formed the Republican party.

Anti-slavery Whigs organized meetings in the upper midwestern states to explain the production of a new party. One of the meeting which took place in Wisconsin on March 20, 1854, is usually recognized as the founding meeting of the Republican Party. The Democrats and Whigs were clearly distributed over the slavery issue, and their power efforts paved the way to create a new political party, the Republican Party, which was established in 1854 and remained united in their decision to stop the spread of slavery into the territories and defend the Union.

Write a poem on protest
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Answer:

Pithy and powerful, poetry is a popular art form at protests and rallies. From the civil rights and women’s liberation movements to Black Lives Matter, poetry is commanding enough to gather crowds in a city square and compact enough to demand attention on social media. Speaking truth to power remains a crucial role of the poet in the face of political and media rhetoric designed to obscure, manipulate, or worse. The selection of poems below call out and talk back to the inhumane forces that threaten from above. They expose grim truths, raise consciousness, and build united fronts. Some insist, as Langston Hughes writes, “That all these walls oppression builds / Will have to go!” Others seek ways to actively “make peace,” as Denise Levertov implores, suggesting that “each act of living” might cultivate collective resistance. All rail against complacency and demonstrate why poetry is necessary and sought after in moments of political crisis.

There _____ any cars two hundred years ago

A) wasn’t
B)
Weren’t
Vladimir79 [104]

Answer:

The answer is B: Weren't

Explanation:

Wasn't should only be used in the first person singular (such as I wasn't doing anything) or the third person singular (He/she wasn't doing anything)

Weren't should only be used in the third or first person plural. Since we are talking about car(S), which is plural, the best answer is Weren't.

Brrunno [24]
In the lines 8-12 of "A child said...", he can't provide an exact definition of the grass, as he knows it no more than a child does. But he can say one thing for certain: the grass doesn't discriminate between different people. It grows everywhere, among blacks as well as whites, in different places of the world.

In the lines 14-25 of “I understand the large hearts….” Whitman doesn't just sympathize, but identifies with all the oppressed - a woman who was burned for allegedly being a witch, a hounded slave who was tortured. He says "All these I feel or am". So, he has more than empathy for his fellow creatures, no matter what their circumstances were, or their fate.
