The content of the nitrogenous base of the DNA molecule can be calculated by using Chargaff's rule. According to the Chargaff's rule the ratio of the amount of purines to the pyrimidines is equal to 1.

The cytosine content of the DNA is 40. The guanine will also be 40, according to the chargaff's rule. Adenine + guanine = cytosine + thymine.

The amount of adenine will be equal to the amount of thymine. 40+40 + 2 adenine = 100. Adenine = 10.

Here, the adenine is 10 , then thymine will be 10.
