Her grandmother died of a disease called EMPHYSEMA. This is a disease in which the air sacs of the lungs, known as alveoli, fail to perform its proper exchange of gases. The alveoli is responsible for converting carbon-dioxide rich gases into oxgen-rich gases that are transported throughout the body through the blood. Chronic smoking is a habit that can damage such vital functions of the alveoli.
