Answer:

44 seats.

Step-by-step explanation:

Ends of 5 tables are placed together. When this is done, there are only 2 ends, one on each side of the 5 tables as shown in the image below. All the other ends are blocked when tables are joined together.

Since, 2 people can sit on each end, 4 people can sit on two ends of the tables.

For one table there are 2 sides and on each side 4 people can be seated. No sides are blocked, so all the sides of 5 tables are open.

Total number of sides of 5 tables = 10

Number of people on each side = 4

So, total number of people on 10 sides would be = 40

Hence, total seats that would be available = Seats on ends + Seats on sides = 4 +40 = 44

44 seats are available if the end of 5 tables are placed together.

For the following system, use the second equation to make a substitution for y in the first equation.
VARVARA [1.3K]

Answer:

Option A: 3x + 5x - 4 = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

3x + y = 1  ------------- eq1

y + 4 = 5x ------------ eq2

Now for substitution in eq1 we will get a value of y from eq2:

y = 5x - 4

Substituting in eq1 we get:

3x + 5x - 4 = 1

i hope it will help you!
