American: a colonial revolt that happened between 1765 and 1783. Some people wanted Independence from Britain so they split, found America and founded the 13 colonies. The people in these colonies fought against Britain and won their freedom and they then became the United States of America.
French: A social and political conflict in French colonies that went from 1789 to 1799. Napoleon Bonaparte partially carried the revolution forward.
Difference: French fought for Abstraction and Americans fought for tangible goals. French wanted to overturn an established order while Americans wanted to preserve their traditional rights.

Similarities: both wanted change. both have economic instability from war debt, both didn't have equal social rights, both started for enlightened ideas
