Movable print became dominant in Europe, as opposed to China, for two </span>main reasons. First, European languages have very small number of letters in their alphabets (usually between 20-35) and the Chinese writing system contains three thousand ideographs for basic communication alone (up to 50,000 in more complex writing). This is not to mention that Chinese ideograpahs also require larger prints and more precisely carved metal blocks for the symbol to be right.
