Multiplication:

   Multiplication is multiplying a number by it's other factor. So 3 x 9 is multiplying 3 by it's fellow factor 9. Factors are the two or more numbers you multiply together to get a product. A product is the answer to a multiplacation problem specifically.

   Multiplacation is NOT the same as addition. Instead of just adding on the exact amount of a number onto another number, multiplication is adding on four 9's or two 8's. For example: 10 x 4 is not just 10 + 4 = 14. It's 10, plus add on 10 more 4's to get 40.

Multiplication is also defined for other types of numbers, such as complex numbers, and more abstract constructs, like matrices.
