Answer:

1) The inequality for the given system are

y ≥ 4x - 4

y ≥ x - 1.5

2)  The test point (0,0)  satisfies both of the inequalities in the system represented by the graph.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A graph showing  a system of inequalities.

We have to find the system of inequality.

For line 1)

The points that cut the x and y axis are (1,0) and (0,-4)

Thus, we can find the equation of line using two given point.

Since the general equation of line is y = mx + c

Where m is slope and c is y intercept

Slope is find as m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Substitute, we get,

m=\frac{-4-0}{0-1}=4

Slope is 4.

Thus, equation becomes y = 4x + c

For c put (0,-4)  in the above equation , we have,

-4 = 4(0) + c ⇒ c = -4

Thus, equation becomes y = 4x - 4

For inequality take a test point (0,0) and we check for which inequality it satisfies the graph region

For (0,0)

y = 4x - 4 becomes 0 = - 4  is satisfied when 0 > -4

thus, the inequality becomes y ≥ 4x - 4

Since, the line is a solid so it will take up equality sign too.

For line 2)

The points that cut the x and y axis are (1.5,0) and (0,-1.5)

Thus, we can find the equation of line using two given point.

Since the general equation of line is y = mx + c

Where m is slope and c is y intercept

Slope is find as m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Substitute, we get,

m=\frac{-1.5-0}{0-1.5}=1

Slope is 1.

Thus, equation becomes y = x + c

For c put (0,-1.5)  in the above equation , we have,

-1.5 = (0) + c ⇒ c = - 1.5

Thus, equation becomes y = x - 1.5

For inequality take a test point (0,0) and we check for which inequality it satisfies the graph region

For (0,0)

y = x - 1.5 becomes 0 = -1.5  is satisfied when 0 > - 1.5

thus, the inequality becomes y ≥ x - 1.5

Since, the line is a solid so it will take up equality sign too.

Thus, the inequality for the given system are

y ≥ 4x - 4

y ≥ x - 1.5

Also,  The test point (0,0)  satisfies both of the inequalities in the system represented by the graph.

Can someone please clearly explain how to correctly work out Q6? Much appreciated
steposvetlana [31]

s =1/2(u+v)t

u = 16, v=16, t=90

s = 1/2(16+16)90

s = 1/2(36)90

s = 16*90

s = 1440

Jessica, Kareem, and Lamar served a total of 64 orders Monday at the school cafeteria. Jessica served 8 fewer orders than Lamar.
sergey [27]

Answer:

Jessica: 10 orders

Lamar: 18 orders

Kareem: 36 orders

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's first designate each person with a letter.

The number of orders served by Jessica can be designated as J

The number of orders served by Kareem can be designated as K

The number of orders served by Lamar can be designated as L

We know that they all served a total of 64 orders. This can be expressed as the sum of their orders equaling 64.

J+K+L=64

We also know that Jessica served 8 fewer orders than Lamar. This can be expressed as the number of orders served by Jessica, J, being equal to Lamar's orders L minus 8.

J = L-8

Fianlly, we know that Kareem served twice as many orders as Lamar. This can be expressed as the number of order's served by Kareem, K, being 2 times Lamar's orders L.

K = 2L

With these 2 equalities, we can substitute J and K in our original equation,

J+K+L=64

with their values expressed as a subtraction or multiplication of L.

J will be substituted with L-8, and K will be substituted with 2L.

J+K+L=64

With substitutions:

(L-8) + 2L + L = 64

We can simplify this by combining the L-terms:

L + 2L + L -8 = 64\\4L - 8 = 64

Next, we'll add 8 to both sides.

4L = 72

Divide both sides by 4:

L = 18

Thus, Lamar served 18 orders.

Using our expressions, we can find how many orders the others served.

Jessica:

J = L-8\\J = 18 -8\\J = 10

Jessica served 10 orders.

Kareem:

K = 2L\\K = 2*18\\K = 36

Kareem served 36 orders.
