The correct answer is - true.

The boundaries, be it artificial (human made) or natural, were and are affecting human movement and especially the human behavior.

The artificial boundaries can be a stumbling block for the humans, as a country can be totally isolated by its neighbors, the borders closed, and thus the people not able to move freely. That will contribute to isolation and development of a culture that has no influence by the others, as well as being stuck with only its own ideas, as the sharing of ideas and information will be almost impossible. A nice example is North Korea.

The natural boundaries, mostly in the past, but in certain cases even nowadays, are an obstacle that has been separating the people, isolating them from one another, restricting their movement, and shaping their behavior. The Sahara desert for example, even nowadays is restricting the movement of the people, as it is too harsh, and most of the people around it do not have the finances to use modern day vehicles and plains. That makes the people partially isolated from each other, thus they develop separate behaviors, have different lifestyles, and have different perceptions of things.
