How did Hurricane Katrina create both push and pull factors for migration into and out of New Orleans? A. The destruction caused

by the hurricane displaced half of the city’s population and encouraged over 250,000 people to leave Louisiana. Many volunteers came for a short time to aid people. B. The destruction caused by the hurricane was not widespread; although many people had to leave temporarily, they were able to return within six months. This created cyclic migration that gave the appearance of migration out and migration in. C. The destruction caused by the hurricane displaced half of the city’s population and encouraged over 250,000 people to leave Louisiana. However, the need to rebuild the city created job opportunities in construction, engineering, and other fields, resulting in a large influx of new residents. D. The population of New Orleans remained unchanged after the hurricane. New agencies and the media over-dramatized the event, giving the appearance of mass movement out of the city.
