Yes. Generally Britain did play a large role in increasing transportation and also expanding the communication in India. This helped connect India into a closer knit group, and, with the feeling of independence spreading, led by Gandhi, who held peaceful stagings to get independence from Britain in 1947.

The effect. was the beginning of the end for not only the Germans but hitler's most of all. D-DAY force the Germans to fight a two front war again just as they had in WWI .yet again the Germans could not handle war on both sides of them.
