Answer:

A - 1.6 meter and B - 0.40 meter

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

The orange ribbon was 2 meters long.

The blue ribbon was 4/5 as long as the orange ribbon.

Linda cut off a piece of the blue ribbon.

The length of the cut piece was 25% of the length of the blue ribbon.

To find:

A) What was the length of the blue ribbon before it was cut?

B) Find the length of the piece of the blue ribbon that Linda cut off.

Solution:

Length of orange ribbon = 2 m

Length of blue ribbon = \frac{4}{5} \times2 =\frac{8}{5}   (given)

As the length of the cut piece was 25%  of the length of the blue ribbon,

Therefore the length of the cut piece = \frac{8}{5} of 25\%

                                                               = \frac{8}{5} \times\frac{25}{100} = \frac{200}{500} = 0.40 meter

Therefore, A : The length of the blue ribbon before it was cut is \frac{8}{5} meter that is 1.6 meter

B :  The length of the piece of the blue ribbon that Linda cut off is 0.40 meter

A) 2*4/5=8/5=1.6. The blue ribbon was 1.6 meters long before it was cut.
B) 1.6*25/100=40/100=0.4
The length of the piece Linda cut off is 0.4 meters

g A coffee-dispensing machine is supposed to deliver eight ounces of liquid into each paper cup, but a consumer believes that th
kap26 [50]

Answer: Reject the eight- ounces claim.

Step-by-step explanation:

For left tailed test , On a normal curve the rejection area lies on the left side of the critical value.

It means that if the observed z-value is less than the critical value then it will fall into the rejection region other wise not.

As per given ,

Objective : A coffee-dispensing machine is supposed to deliver eight ounces of liquid or less.

Then ,

H_0: \mu=8\\\\H_a: \mu , since alternative hypothesis is left-tailed thus the test is an left-tailed test.

the critical value for z for a one-tailed test with the tail in the left end is -1.645 and the obtained value is -1.87.

Clearly , -1.87 < -1.645

⇒ -1.87 falls under rejection region.

⇒  Decision : Reject null hypothesis.

i.e. we reject the eight- ounces claim.
