All estimating problems make the assumption you are familar with your math facts, addition and multiplication. Since students normally memorize multiplication facts for single-digit numbers, any problem that can be simplified to single-digit numbers is easily worked.

2. You are asked to estimate 47.99 times 0.6. The problem statement suggests you do this by multiplying 50 times 0.6. That product is the same as 5 × 6, which is a math fact you have memorized. You know this because
.. 50 × 0.6 = (5 × 10) × (6 × 1/10)
.. = (5 × 6) × (10 ×1/10) . . . . . . . . . . . by the associative property of multiplication
.. = 30 × 1
.. = 30

3. You have not provided any clue as to the procedure reviewed in the lesson. Using a calculator,
.. 47.99 × 0.6 = 28.79 . . . . . . rounded to cents

4. You have to decide if knowing the price is near $30 is sufficient information, or whether you need to know it is precisely $28.79. In my opinion, knowing it is near $30 is good enough, unless I'm having to count pennies for any of several possible reasons.

What set of reflections would carry rectangle ABCD onto itself?
Furkat [3]
Answer: option D) y=x, x-axis, y=x, y-axis.

I first thought it was the option C) and I tried with it but it was wrong. This is how I dit it.

Option C step by step:

1) Reflection over the x - axis => point with coordinates (a,b) is transformed into point with coordinates (a, -b)

2) Reflection over the line y = x => point with coordinates (a, -b) is transformed into point with coordinates (-b,a)

3) New feflection over the x - axis => (-b,a) transforms into (-b, -a)

4) New reflection over the line y = x => (-b,-a) transforms into (-a,-b)

Which shows it is not the option C).

Then I probed with option D. Step by step:

1) Reflection over the line y = x => (a,b) → (b,a)

2) Reflection over the x-axis => (b,a) → (b,-a)

3) Reflection over the line y = x => (b,-a) → (-a,b)

4) Reflection over the y-axis => (-a,b) → (a,b).

So, this set of reflections, given by the option D) transforms any point into itself, which proofs that the option D) is the right answer.

Jane’s cell phone plan is $40 each month plus $0.15 per minute for each minute over 200 minutes of call time. Janes cell phone b
san4es73 [151]

Answer:

The equation is 40+0.15m = 58.00 whose solution is m =120\:minutes.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us call m the number of minutes the phone is used over 200 minutes, then we have

\boxed{40+0.15m = 58.00} (this says monthly bill of $40 plus the cost of phone usage over 200 minutes must equal $58 )

This equation can be used to solve for m u as follows:

0.15m = 58-40

m = \dfrac{18}{0.15}

\boxed{m = 120\:minutes}

A=1/2(2x6)x4 i need helppp !!
Nostrana [21]

Answer:

A=24

Step-by-step explanation:

First, we do the equations in the brackets(2x6) which is 12.

Before that, there is a 1/2 which means dividing whatever is inside the brackets by 2 which then becomes 6.

Then we x4 so the answer is 24.
