The United States sent a humanitarian force or United Task Force into Somalia (a country in Africa) from 1992-1994.  The US sent this humanitarian force due to civil unrest in the country.  United Nations forces were being shot at, ships were not allowed to dock and unload supplies, and aircrafts were also being shot at when delivering food to the people in the country.
