Plants produce oxygen as a byproduct of photosynthesis; The formulae for photosynthesis is; 6CO2 + 6H2O –(sunlight)----> C6H12O6 + 6O2

Therefore for oxygen to be produced, there has to be sunlight. An indirect way of determinig the gas is comparing the number of bubbles during the day and night. The bubbles should be more during the day than night.
