The bulb contains a chemical called lycorine which can cause various symptoms if eaten (so in a way poisonous)

The red spider lily is associated with death. there is a popular japanese name (Higanbana) for it which means flower of the after life.

When two gametes fuse, they actually complete the full set of chromosomes and form a new organism which contains the characters according to the dominant and recessive basis. So offsprings are not completely similar to any of the parents.
