A. This doesn't make sense given the question. Wrong.
B. Peace and harmony are not associated with persecution...or totalitarianism or regime. Wrong.
C. Religious persecution in a totalitarian regime would likely still have a lot of propaganda. Wrong.
D. By punishing people under a religious totalitarian regime, the regime gains more control through fear and punishment. If the totalitarian regime has more control, they can control resources people need, such as access to food, water, housing, money, education, medicine, and a ton of other resources. They can dismantle every other religion and any cultural or personal associations with other religions. This is one good argument for the separation of church and state, especially if the religion is integral to the regime/government. This is the best answer.

Hope this helps!
