Answer:

8 boys are in the group

Step-by-step explanation:

A group consisted of 2 girls for every boy. 24 more girls joined the group. There are now 5 girls for every boy.

Let 'x' be the number of boys

2 girls for every boy and 24 more girls joined

So  number of girls now = 2(number of boys ) + 24

2x + 24

now 5 girls for every boy.

number of girls now = 5 (number of boys)

5x

2x + 24 = 5x

Subtract 2x on both sides

24 = 3x

Divide by 3 on both sides

x= 8

So number of boys in the group = 8

X = boys

2x+24=5x

Subtract 2 x from each side

24=3x

X=24/3 = 8

 there are 8 boys

11. Given: TQ bisects ZRTP, QS || PT<br> RT = 30. Find QP, RS and QS
yaroslaw [1]

QP=24 cm

RS=11.25 cm

QS=18.75 cm

<u>Explanation</u>:

Given that TQ bisects <RTP

therefore(1)

consider ΔRQS and ΔRPT

QS||PT,RP and RT are transversals

(alternate angles)(2)

comparing (1) and (2)

and triangle SQT is isocelus

Therefore SQ=ST(sides opposite to equal angles in an isocelus triangle)

Therefore <RQS=<RPT(corresponding angles)

<RSQ=<RTP(corresponding angles)

therefore by AA criterion for similarity

ΔRQS~ΔRPT

According to the property of similar triangles

RQ/RP=RS/RT=QS/PT9/RP=X/30=QS/50\\9/RP=X/30=(30-X)/50\\X/30=(30-X)/50\\50X=30(30-X)\\50X=900-30X\\50X+30X=900\\80X=900\\X=900/80=11.25\\RS=11.25 cm\\QS=30-X=30-11.25\\QS=18.75 cm\\9/RP=X/30\\9/RP=11.25/30\\9*30/11.25=RP\\RP=24 cm

Mrs. Daly's reading classes were surveyed about their reading preferences. The data is summarized in the table below.
andriy [413]

Answer:

Required probability is 0.19

Step-by-step explanation:

The two-way table for the given data is,

                              Fiction                Non-Fiction                Total

9th grade                35                            8                             43

10th grade               52                            12                           64

Total                        87                            20                           107

It is required to find the probability of the students who prefer to read non-fiction novels, given that they are in 9th grade.

That is, to find the conditional probability P(Non-fiction| 9th\ grade).

Now, P(A|B)=\dfrac{P(A\bigcap B)}{P(B)}

So, we get,

P(Non-fiction| 9th\ grade)=\dfrac{(Non-fiction\bigcap 9th\ grade)}{P(9th\ grade)}\\\\P(Non-fiction| 9th\ grade)=\dfrac{8}{43}\\\\P(Non-fiction| 9th\ grade)=0.19

<h3>Thus, the required probability is 0.19.</h3>
