So  number of girls now = 2(number of boys ) + 24

2x + 24

number of girls now = 5 (number of boys)

5x

2x + 24 = 5x

Subtract 2x on both sides

24 = 3x

Divide by 3 on both sides

x= 8

So number of boys in the group = 8
