The fractions, numbers, and decimals shown are all slopes.

If the given number is equal to the other, (i.e. slope 7 & slope 7 are equal) then they are parallel.

If the slopes are simply of different values (i.e. slope 5 & slope 6 are intersecting, but should be written as neither.) then they are neither.

If the product of the slopes is -1 ( i.e. - \frac{1}{2} & 2 have a product of -1, so they are perpendicular.) then they are perpendicular.

Now, to the questions.

34. Their product is 1, so they are neither.
35. These are equal, so they are parallel.
36.Their product is -1, so they are perpendicular.
37.Their product is -1, so they are perpendicular.

Hopefully you understand this better. I'll leave it up to you to answer questions 38-51 ;) If you need help, feel free to message me!

Marisol is painting on a piece of canvas that has and area of 180 square inches. The length of the painting is 1 1/4 times the w
Ivahew [28]
Formula for the rectangle area is a * b, In this case we know that:

a * b = 180
a (width) = unknown
b (length) = 1 1/4a

We can write it down as:

a * 1 1/4 * a = 180
a² * 1 1/4 = 180                   / ÷ 1 1/4 (both sides)
a² = 144 / square root (both sides)
a = 12

Doublecheck:

a = 12
b = 1 1/4 * 12 = 15
a * b = 12 * 15 = 180 (so it's correct)

Answer: The dimensions of the painting are 12 x 15 inches.

−2(x−3)+4>3x−10 solve for x
GalinKa [24]

Answer:   x<4

Step-by-step explanation:

−2(x−3) + 4 > 3x − 10

-2x + 6 + 4 > 3x - 10

-2x + 10 > 3x-  10

-5x > -10 - 10

-5x >-20 when divide a negative in an inequality, change the sign.

Question: Consider the similarity transformation of ΔABC to produce ΔEDF.
german

Answer:

see the explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

we have triangle  ΔABC

step 1

Rotate 90 degrees clockwise ΔABC about point C to obtain ΔA'B'C'

Remember that

A rotation is a rigid transformation

An object and its rotation are the same shape and size, but the figures may be turned in different directions

so

ΔABC and ΔA'B'C' are congruent

ΔABC≅ ΔA'B'C

step 2

Dilate the triangle ΔA'B'C' to obtain triangle ΔEDF

Remember that

A dilation is a non rigid transformation

A dilation produces similar figures

If two figures are similar, then the ratio of its corresponding angles is proportional and its corresponding angles are congruent

Find the scale factor of the dilation

The scale factor is equal to the ratio of corresponding sides

In this problem

Let

z ----> the scale factor

so

z=\frac{ED}{AB}=\frac{DF}{BC}=\frac{EF}{AC}

Multiply the length sides of triangle ΔA'B'C' by the scale factor z to obtain the length sides of triangle ΔEDF

Note: in this problem the scale factor z is less than 1

That means ----> the dilation is a reduction
