Let Terry's age be x

Terry = x

<span>Rubin is 5 years older than one third Terry’s age
</span>Rubin = 5 + 1/3x

<span><em>Sheldon is three years younger than 2 times Rubin’s age. </em>
</span>Sheldon = 2(5 + 1/3x) - 3

If Terry is 6,
Rubin = 5 + 1/3(6) = 5 + 2 = 7
Sheldon = 2( 5 + 1/3 (6)) - 3 = 11

Ans: Rubin is 7 and Sheldon is 11

Find the values of x and y.
hodyreva [135]

Answer:

C, (x = 100, y = 10)

Step-by-step explanation:

hi again,

(2x - 70) = (x + 30), by the Alternate Exterior Angles

x - 70 = 30

<em>x = 100</em>

<em />

(2x - 70) + 5y = 180, by the Linear Pair Theorem

2(100) - 70 + 5y = 180

200 - 70 + 5y = 180

130 + 5y = 180

5y = 50

<em>y = 10</em>

Find the vertices of the hyperbola. Enter the smallest coordinate first.
melisa1 [442]

Answer:

([-3], [0]), ([3], [0])

Step-by-step explanation:

The given equation of the hyperbola is presented as follows;

\dfrac{x^2}{9} - \dfrac{y^2}{49} = 1

The vertices of an hyperbola (of the form)  \dfrac{x^2}{a^2} - \dfrac{y^2}{b^2} = 1 are (± a, 0)

The given hyperbola can we presented in a similar form as follows;

\dfrac{x^2}{9} - \dfrac{y^2}{49} = \dfrac{x^2}{3^2} - \dfrac{y^2}{7^2} = 1

Therefore, by comparison, the vertices of the parabola are (± 3, 0), which gives;

The vertices of the parabola are ([-3], [0]), ([3], [0]).
