In The Circuit the narrator is very detailed in The Passing the narrator's point of view is somehow confusing for the reader.

Explanation:

In The Passing we understand the story from what Irene is seeing, doing, and thinking. It's a third person omniscient and because of this we are restricted to understand only what Irene's character understands.

This is different in The Circuit, where the narrator focuses on details we see the perspective Francisco has and we know how he feels and thinks. The narrator does this very well because the reader feels exactly how the narratow wants us to feel.
