-2x²-x-1=0<br> Find the value of the discriminant
joja [24]

Hey there!

\large\boxed{-7}

The formula for the discriminant is represented by b²-4ac.

We need to identify the values for a, b, and c.

This equation is in general form, which is ax² + bx + c = 0.

So, a = -2, b = -1, and c = -1.

Plug the values into the formula.

(-1)²-4(-2)(-1)

Square.

1-4(-2)(-1)

Multiply.

1-4(2)

1-8

Subtract.

-7

The discriminant is -7.

This means there are no real solutions to the equation, because the discriminant is negative.

Hope this helps!

it is believed that Egyptians enslaved talented craftspeople from neighboring civilization to construct the pyramids
beks73 [17]
I would say that is a false statement. However, there's a lot of controversy regarding the building of the pyramids. While some believe that the pyramids were built with slave labor, archaeologists now believe that the Great Pyramid of Giza - at least - was built by tens of thousands of skilled workers who camped near the pyramids and worked for a salary or as a form of tax payment. The discovery of workers' cemeteries in 1990 by archaeologists Zahi Hawass and Mark Lehner pointed in that direction. Hope this helps!!!
