The colonists opposed the taxes imposed on them after the French and Indian War. These taxes were known as the Stamp act. They required that all printed materials be printed in the UK. All the printed material was embossed with a revenue stamp. The English colonists considered it an infringement of their rights to have to pay the stamp tax. They were still considered British citizens and yet they were not granted the same rights as British citizens living in the UK

How do due process protections for the accused protect us all?
s2008m [1.1K]

Answer:

Numerous “checks” within legal processes help ensure the system is as free of bias as possible, and protect individuals from the potentially overwhelming power and resources of government. The Due Process Clause guarantees “due process of law” before the government may deprive someone of “life, liberty, or property.” In other words, the Clause does not prohibit the government from depriving someone of “substantive” rights such as life, liberty, or property; it simply requires that the government follow proper procedures

How events such as the rise of the Young Turks, the Russo-Japanese War, and the Boxer Rebellion are tied to nationalism.
diamong [38]
They led to the rise of nationalism because it was mostly about fighting foreign forms of imperialism. Young Turks wanted a Turkey without the ottoman monarchy and without foreign influences, while Japan won the Russo-Japanese war and became aware that they are an important military force in the world. The Boxer rebellion was about Chinese nationalists wanting to get rid of all types of foreign influence, both governmental and religious. All three involved people with strong nationalistic tendencies who opposed foreign influence.
