Something can be categorized as a need if it is needed of your survival as a human being, such as food, shelter & clothing. If it is something that does not affect your survival, it is considered a want, such as video games and a new denim jacket. Clothing is not always a need, like if you want to go buy a suit, you won't use that very often, which makes that item of clothing a want. Hopefully, that helps.

When the price of hot dogs is $1.50 each, 500 hot dogs are sold every day. After lowering the price to $1.35 each, 510 hot dogs
AURORKA [14]

Answer: The price elasticity of demand for hot dog is -0.2

Explanation: Price elasticity of demand is the percentage change in quantity of a goods divided by the percentage change in the price of the goods

PED = %∆Q ÷ %∆P

STEP1: CALCULATE THE PERCENTAGE CHANGE IN QUANTITY

[(510 - 500) ÷ 500 ] × 100 = 2%

STEP2: CALCULATE THE PERCENTAGE CHANGE IN PRICE

[($1.35 - $1.50) ÷ $1.50] ×100 = -10%

STEP3: CALCULATE THE PRICE ELASTICITY OF DEMAND

2% ÷ (-10%) = -0.2

The price elasticity is -0.2 which means that the demand is inelastic. Demand is elastic when percentage change in quantity is greater than percentage change in price.

BE9.5 (LO 3), AP For Gundy Company, units to be produced are 5,000 in quarter 1 and 7,000 in quarter 2. It takes 1.6 hours to ma
azamat

Answer:

The correct answer for quarter 1 is $120,000, for quarter 2 is $168,000 and for 6 months is $288,000.

Explanation:

According to the scenario, computation of the given data are as follows:

Direct labor cost for Quarter 1 = Total Required Direct Labor Hours × Direct Labor Wage

Where, Total Required Direct Labor Hours = 5,000 × 1.6 hours = 8,000 hours

So, Direct labor budget for Quarter 1 = 8,000 × $15 = $120,000

Direct labor budget for Quarter 2 = Total Required Direct Labor Hours × Direct Labor Wage

Where, Total Required Direct Labor Hours = 7,000 × 1.6 hours = 11,200 hours

So, Direct labor budget for Quarter 2 = 11,200 × $15 = $168,000

So, Direct labor budget for 6 months = Direct labor budget for Quarter 1 + Direct labor budget for Quarter 2

= $120,000 + $168,000

= $288,000.
