According to postal regulations, a carton is classified as "oversized" if the sum of its height and girth (the perimeter of its

base) exceeds 192 in. Find the dimensions of a carton (in inches) with square base that is not oversized and has maximum volume. (Enter the three dimensions as a comma-separated list.)

Answer:

Square base dimension = 15 inches

Maximum volume = 7200 inches^3

Step-by-step explanation:

V = x^2y ..... eq 1

Let the square base be x and the height y

Oversize formular is given by

Y + 4x = 92

Y= 92 - 4x .....eq 2

Put eq 2 into eq 1

V = x^2 ( 92 - 4x^3)

V= 92x^2 - 4x^3

Using derivatives

V= 184x - 12x^2

V'= 0 = 184x - 12x^2

X(184 -12x)

X=0

X = 184/12 = 15.33 approximately 15 inches

Maximum Volume = V= 92(15)^2 -5(15)^3

V= 92(225) - 4(3475)

V= 20700 - 13500

V= 7200 inches^3

The midpoint of \overline{\text{AB}} AB is M(0, -3)M(0,−3). If the coordinates of AA are (2, -5)(2,−5), what are the coordinates
ICE Princess25 [194]

Using the mid-point concept, it is found that the coordinates of B are (-2, -1).

 • The mid-point of two points is the mean of the coordinates of each point.

In this problem:

 • The points are: A(2, -5) and B(x,y).
 • The mid-point is (0, -3).

Applying the concept for both the x and y-coordinates, we have that:

\frac{x + 2}{2} = 0

x + 2 = 0

x = -2

\frac{-5 + y}{2} = -3

-5 + y = -6

y = -1

The coordinates of B are (-2, -1).

Solve for x.
3.rº
80°
20°
A. 10
B. 20
C. 50
D. 80
ohaa [14]

Answer:

x = 20°

Step-by-step explanation:

The angle measures should add up to 180 degrees. So that leaves us with 100 degrees left to find if we take out the 80 given.

3x + 2x simplifies to 5x. 5x must equal 100.

100/5 = 20.

Therefore x = 20.

Write an equation of the line that passes through the points (-3,-9) and (5,-9)
skelet666 [1.2K]

Answer:

slope of a line m : 0

Equation of line : y=- 9

Step-by-step explanation:

P1 : (X1 , Y1 ) (-3 , -9)

P2 : (X2 , Y2) (5 , -9)

Slope of line (m) is caculated as ,

m = ( y2-y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (-9 - (-9))/(5 - (-3))

m = 0

equation of line : y = mx+b

using P1 (-3 , -9)

= > (-9) = (0)(-3) + b

= > -9 = b

hence b = -9

equation of Line is

y = -9
