Eamon used a number line to compare two numbers,0.48 and 3/5.One number was less than 1/2 and the other number was greater than

It's easy, just convert all the number to the same decimal or number. Start off by converting all the numbers to decimals. 1/2 would be .50. 3/5 would be .60. By knowing this you can easily order the numbers from least to greatest. .48, .50, and .60. The answer would be  .48

to find the total value of what she spent, add 12.52 and 6.13. I generally add the whole number before the decimal:

12 + 6 = 18

.52 + .13 = .65

18 + .65 = 18.65

Adding separately before together helps take out confusion.
