Let the height of the triangle be x then the base becomes as 4+x
now area of triangle in a plane surface is given by
1/2*base*height
thus
1/2*(4+x)*x= 16
4x+x^2 = 32
x^2 +4x -32 = 0
x^2+8x-4x-32
x(x+8)-4(x+8)
therefore x is equal to -8 or +4
hence it can't be in negative so it is +4
thus base becomes +8
the height is 4 cm and base is 8cm

What is the surface area of a cylinder with base radius of 4 and height 5
shtirl [24]

Answer:

A= 226.08

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for the surface area of a cylinder is A=2πrh + 2πr^2

So, plug in the numbers. π(pi)= 3.14

A= (2 × 3.14 × 4 × 5) + (2 × 3.14 × 4²)

You could use a calculator for the last few steps.

Multiply what's in the first set of parenthesizes: I25.6

Now, multiply the numbers in the other pair of parenthesizes: 100.48

Lastly, add the two numbers together: 226.08

226.08 is the surface area of the cylinder.
