finding the product of 2 numbers means that you have to multiply those numbers

\frac{3}{8} * 16

when multiplying fractions , numerators are multiplied by numerators and denominators by denominators

\frac{3}{8}*\frac{16}{1}  = \frac{3*16}{8*1} = \frac{48}{8} = 6

therefore product of 3/8 and 16 is 6

next we have to find 2/3 of 6

'of' operator means multiplication

\frac{2}{3} *\frac{6}{1} = \frac{2*6}{3*1} = \frac{12}{3} = 4

answer is 4

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

<u>The Problem:</u>

  • \frac{2}{3} of the product of \frac{3}{8} and 16.
  • Write an expression to match and then evaluate.

<u>The Process:</u>

Here are some early expressions that need attention.

  • two-thirds is \frac{2}{3}
  • three-eights is \frac{3}{8}
  • the product of \frac{3}{8} and 16 is \frac{3}{8} \times 16

The term of "the product" is synonymous with multiplication.

Let us write an expression to match for \frac{2}{3} of the product of \frac{3}{8} and 16.

\boxed{\boxed{ \ \frac{2}{3} \times \bigg( \frac{3}{8} \times 16 \bigg ) \ }}

And now we evaluate the full expression.

\boxed{ \ = \frac{2}{3} \times \bigg( \frac{3}{8} \times 16 \bigg ) \ }

We can cross out 8 and 16.

\boxed{ \ = \frac{2}{3} \times (3 \times 2) \ }

\boxed{ \ = \frac{2}{3} \times 6 \ }

We can cross out 3 and 6.

\boxed{ \ = 2 \times 2 \ }

Thus, the result is 4.

Quick Steps:

\boxed{ \ \frac{2}{3} \times \frac{3}{8} \times 16 \ }

\boxed{ \ \frac{1}{1} \times \frac{1}{4} \times 16 \ }

\boxed{ \ \frac{16}{4} \ or \ 16 \div 4 \ }

\boxed{\boxed{ \ 4 \ }}

Alice and Dave left school at the same time walking in opposite directions. Alice walked at an average speed of 280 ft/min and D
Svetach [21]

Answer:

600 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Alice's Average Speed=280 ft/min

Dave's Average Speed=320 ft/min.

Distance = Average Speed X Time

In 1 minute, their distances from their starting point is determined below.

Alice's Distance=280 X 1=280ft

Dave's Distance= 320 X 1=320ft

Since they walk in opposite direction, their distance from each other will be the sum of their distances from the starting point.

Distance of Alice from Dave=280+320=600 ft

In 1 minute, they were 600 ft apart.
