The state of Florida ended up deciding the winner between the Democratic Party candidate Al Gore and the Republican Party candidate Geroge W. Bush. Since the election of 2012, the state of Florida has 29 electoral votes.

Florida was swing state and its result was not known for a month due to recounting of its presidential ballots along with Supreme court's decision in Bush V. Gore, Bush won the electoral votes in Florida with a margin of 537 votes.
