Bacterias are unicellular beings and prokaryotes, bacteria are classified in the Monera Kingdom. There are thousands of known species that have different shapes, habitats and metabolism.

Some of these microorganisms are disease-causing (being called pathogenic), but there are also bacteria of great ecological importance (such as nitrogen-fixing fixers and food chain decomposers) and economic (used in various industrial processes).

The bacterial cell is prokaryotic, that is, the genetic material is dispersed in the cytoplasm and is made up of a circular DNA molecule called a nucleus. In some bacteria there may be an outer layer called a protein capsule that protects against dehydration, defends against bacteriophage attacks and phagocytes, and aids attachment to host cells.
