In the equation for a line, y=mx+b, you will find both the slope and the y-intercept. The letter m is your slope, and the letter b is your y-intercept. So, looking at your line's equation, we have y = 1/3x - 2. With this being said, 1/3 is your slope, and -2 is your y-intercept. Does this make sense?

Hi there!

When a function is in slope-intercept form, or y = mx + b form, the slope is always the number multiplied by x, or m, and the y intercept is always the number following the slope and x, or b.

In this case, the slope would be 1/3 and the y intercept would be -2.

Hope this helps!

<u>Given</u>:

Given that the angles of the kite.

The opposite angles of the kite measures (3y + 14)° and (y + 50)°

We need to determine the value of y.

<u>Value of y:</u>

We know the property that the opposite angles are equal.

Thus, applying the property, we have;

3y+14=y+50

Subtracting both sides of the equation by y, we have;

2y+14=50

Subtracting both sides of the equation by 14, we get;

2y=36

Dividing both sides of the equation by 2, we get;

y=18

Thus, the value of y is 18.

The shoe store manager borrowed $17,000.00 from the bank to purchase 1000 pairs of shoes. The bank charges a simple interest rat
-Dominant- [34]

Answer:

2550

Step-by-step explanation:

1) So he borrowed 17,000

2) Simple interest is 5%

3) so 0.05 *17000 = 850

4)It takes the manager 3 years so, 850*3=2550

5) so 2550 is the total amount of interest the manager needs to pay

A flute case is shaped like a rectangular prism. The caseis 5inches tall, 3 inches wide, and has a volume of 255 cubic inches
Anna [14]

Answer:

The length of the case is 17 inches.

Step-by-step explanation:

A flute case is shaped like a rectangular prism with dimensions:

  • height = 5 inches;
  • width = 3 inches;
  • length = x inches.

The volume of the case is 255 cubic inches.

Use formula for the volume of the rectangular prism:

\text{Volume}=\text{Width}\times \text{Length}\times \text{Height}

Thus,

255=5\cdot x\cdot 3\\ \\255=15x\\ \\x=\dfrac{255}{15}=17

The length of the case is 17 inches.
