Adrian works in New York City and makes 42$ per hour. she works in an office and must get her suit dry cleaned everyday for 75$.

if she wants to make more than $260 a day, at least how many hours must she work

42 + 42 + 42 + 42 + 42 + 42 = 252. Not quite there yet, and keep in mind than you need to subtract 75$ from dry cleaning. 42 x 8 = 336 Now subtract the dry cleaning expense. 336 - 75 = 261 Adrian will have to work eight hours a day to earn one dollar more than 260$.

Assume that x is number of working hours .
42*x-75>260        
42x-75>260   /+75 add 75 both sids
42x>335        /:42 divide both sides by 42
x>7,97
Adrian will stay at work at least 8 hours.
