Like it is stated, combine like terms. In case you don't know what that means, then the question is essentially asking for you to add/subtract etc. expressions from each other that have the same variable.

Given: -\frac{2}{3} a + \frac{5}{6}a - \frac{1}{6} \\\\

Note: -\frac{2}{3}a = -\frac{4}{6}a

-\frac{4}{6}a + \frac{5}{6}a - \frac{1}{6} = \\\\\frac{1}{6}a - \frac{1}{6} \\

So, \frac{1}{6}a - \frac{1}{6} is the new and equivalent expression. We cannot do anything further because there are no like terms.

Answer:

-1/6(-a+1)

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Factor out -1/6 from the expression: -1/6(4a-5a+1)

2. Collect the terms: -1/6(-a+1)

Final Answer: -1/6(-a+1)

Simplify: -0.8b+4.1c-(-3.2b)-0.1c
BigorU [14]

[ Answer ]

\boxed{2.4b \ + \ 4c}

[ Explanation ]

  • Simplify: -0.8b + 4.1c - (-3.2b) - 0.1c

-----------------------------------

  • Apply Rule: - (-a) = a

-0.8b + 4.1c + 3.2b - 0.1c

  • Group Like Terms

-0.8b + 3.2b + 4.1c - 0.1c

  • Add Similar Elements: -0.8b + 3.2b = 2.4b

2.4b + 4.1c - 0.1c

  • Add Similar Elements: 4.1c - 0.1c = 4c

2.4b + 4c

\boxed{[ \ Eclipsed \ ]}

Find the limits<br>The answer is - 3/4
Kipish [7]

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

This is a puzzling one! The answer is indeed -3/4 but I was unable to prove it using mathematics appropriate to the "middle school" level. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

(To prove it I generated the first few terms of its Laurent series, a Calculus topic. The first few terms are  -(3/4) + (41/64x) +  and as x approaches  minus infinity the term with "x" in the denominator goes to zero, leaving the constant value -3/4 as the answer. )

Thank you,

MrB
