Biology

It is necessary to measure air pressure because it gives an idea about the amount of gases dissolve in water, the density of air at a particular place, the direction of winds etc.

Explanation:

 • The pressure exerted by the total volume of air in the Earth's surface is called air pressure. It is also called barometric pressure.
 • The air pressure decreases with decrease in air density and increases with increase in air density.
 • With increase in air pressure more oxygen is dissolved in water.
 • The direction of winds on Earth is also determined by the pressure belts. The winds move from region of high pressure to low pressure. Thus, measurement of air pressure helps in weather forecast.

Given the following events involved in the regulation of blood volume, which one of the following answers best represents the or
Ad libitum [116K]

Answer:

The correct answer will be-

1. decrease in blood volume

2. secretion of renin from juxtaglomerular apparatus

3. production of angiotensin II

4. secretion of aldosterone

5. sodium reabsorbed from distal tubules and collecting ducts

Explanation:

The RAAS pathway or Renin-angiotensin II-aldosterone pathway gets activated in the human body to maintain the osmolarity and blood volume.

When the receptors in the blood sense the low volume of water in the body sends signals to the brain which activates the secretion of the renin from the juxtaglomerular cells. Renin helps converts the inactive angiotensin to angiotensin I and II which help reabsorption of sodium ions. This activates the production of aldosterone which increases the reabsorption of the sodium ions into distal and collecting ducts.

The drawing below illustrates a small portion of the molecules that make up a cell membrane. What is the primary function of the
Ket [755]

Answer:

The correct option is b

Explanation:

Phospholipids are lipids that contains a phosphate group, which forms the "head" of the molecule and is hydrophilic (water loving). The "tail" of phospholipids is made of two fatty acids which are hydrophobic (water fearing). The phospholipid in the cell membrane acts as a selectively permeable barrier that regulates what goes in and out of the cell thereby protecting the cell from some external molecules and ions.

sleet_krkn [62]

Answer:

Hypomagnesemia

Explanation:

 • Hypomagnesemia is a condition of low magnesium levels in the body and because magnesium acts as an active cardiovascular electrolyte, its deficiency leads to cardiac complications such as dysrhythmias.
 • People who suffer from myocardial infarction are often treated for hypomagnesemia to improve their cardiac conduction, however, hypomagnesemia can also develop in chronic alcoholics.
 • The other reasons that could lead to the condition faced by Robert Stevens can be hypokalaemia however, as he is also chronic alcoholic hypomagnesemia is the main cause.
