It means that's we can have the same kind of species but different phenotype. For example monarch butterflies. One is brown. the other black. Let's say they are located on the beach , sitting on the sand. The black one would be less likely to survive since it's physical characteristics are giving it a disadvantage in this case it's color. Therefor the brown one would survive and thrive. And vice Versa, if we were to put them in a location where's there's loads of rocks mostly grey and black rocks, the brown one would die out since prey can spot it easier. So that's what that means. I'm a bio major, hope I helped. :)

What's the purpose of cellular respiration
Katena32 [7]
All cells use oxygen to convert raw food products into energy they can use for health. In the process they make a bi-product which is carbon dioxide and waste material. If there was no cellular respiration the cell would die, because they would be lacking the oxygen needed for food conversion, and they would have no means of getting rid of their waste products.

A mutation in a polypeptide with the original amino acid sequence of: Met-Ala-Gln-Arg-Glu-Leu results in a mutant with the seque
Nezavi [6.7K]

Answer:

This question lacks options, however, it can be answered based on general understanding of the topic

The answer is SUBSTITUTION MUTATION

Explanation:

A mutation is any change that occurs in the nucleotide sequence of a gene. Mutation can be of different types depending on how it occurs. One type of mutation is SUBSTITUTION MUTATION, which is a mutation in which one or more nucleotide base is replaced by another in the sequence.

Nucleotide bases are read in a group of three called CODON. Each of these codons specify amino acid. Hence, if the nucleotide base sequence is altered during mutation, the amino acid sequence is altered likewise. In this case where the original amino acid sequence is: Met-Ala-Gln-Arg-Glu-Leu, the mutation affected the nucleotide bases coding for Arginine (Arg), hence changing it to Glycine (Gly).

This means that a base substitution mutation occured, replacing the amino acid Arginine with Glycine in the mutated sequence.
