There are many ways you can do that, but it would depend on what kind of research you want to perform.

Explanation:

You can use a census report if you desire to perform a deep analysis of the social and economic conditions of the 1820's families. However, if you want to perform research about personal views you can use journals of the period, chronicles or newspaper articles. Nevertheless, I think the best research is when you can mix these source materials.
