This would what is called convergent thinking as this type of thinking is more suitable for more routine problems than the ones that require a person to come up with a more creative solution. Convergent thinking sees that there is only one solution to the problem and you will see that all lines of thinking guided by the previous knowledge and logic converge to a singe point and show the solution.
