Answer:

The side length of the painting and the wrapping paper are 21 inches and 30 inches respectively.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the side length ( in inches ) of the square shaped painting,

∵ After adding 9 inches in each side,

The new side length of the square = (x+9) inches, ( wrapping paper side length )

∵ Perimeter of a square = 4 × (side length)

Thus, the perimeter of the new square = 4(x+9) in

According to the question,

4(x+9) = 120

x + 9 = 30

x = 21

Hence, the side length of the square = 21 inches,

And, the side length of the wrapping paper = 30 inches

What does it mean to find the inverse of a function
goldenfox [79]

In mathematics, an inverse function (or anti-function) is a function that "reverses" another function: if the function f applied to an input x gives a result of y, then applying its inverse function g to y gives the result x, and vice versa, i.e., f(x) = y if and only if g(y) = x. <u><em>Courtesy to Wikipedia</em></u>

Which is the slope of a line that is perpendicular to the line represented by the equation x-y = 8
Marat540 [252]

Answer:

-1

Step-by-step explanation:   from the equation,  x-y=8,  make  y the subject of the formulae , this gives - y=  -x +8

divide all through by (-) sign, this gives   y= x - 8

from the last equation above, the slope is the coefficient of x which is 1. since it is perpendicula, the answer is -1

by co efficient, we mean the number multiplying the unknown
