Ultraviolet light can cause mutations and other damage within cells, which can hurt an individual's chance of surviving and leav

ing offspring. some molecules can protect cells from damage by uv. the amount of these molecules is determined by genes. within a population, some individuals make more of these uv-protection molecules than others. what do you predict would happen to the frequency of the genes that cause more of the molecules to be made in a population over time? assume all other factors are equal.

I believe the frequency would increase because individuals with the genes for more molecules would leave more offspring.
Ultraviolet light is a form of radiation that acts as a mutagen, an agent that causes mutations in DNA. Exposure to ultraviolet light causes chemical changes that alter the shape of the DNA, and the process that corrects DNA's shape can also cause changes to the DNA code.

What negative effect does sickle-cell disease have on the circulatory system?
Tatiana [17]

Answer:

Because sickled cells restrict blood flow, individuals can periodically experience swelling and extreme pain in any body organ or joint. This can last for hours or weeks. Sometimes permanent damage can occur to organs deprived of oxygen and nutrients

Explanation:

Red blood cells are designed to pick up oxygen in the lungs and transport it throughout the body via the circulatory system. Their donut-like shape and water-balloon-like flexibility allows them to pass through even the tiniest blood vessels.

Sickle cell anemia is a hereditary condition that causes some red blood cells to distort into rigid crescent moon shapes.

Normal red blood cells can flow freely through blood vessels. Sickled cells get stuck in the blood vessels and cause blockages.
