During this period people needed an entertainment and reading books was a good way to do that. People needed to get rid of the bad feelings caused by economic depression. They needed to relax by reading some fiction. That was described in the most notable works written during these period like Gone with the Wind<span> or </span>The Grapes of Wrath<span>.</span>
