Answer: The Arms Race intensified throughout the Cold due to the superiority that was seeked between the two powers (US and the USSR). Both of these powers main goal is to prove their superiority in advancements of weapons such as nukes, vehicles, and did I mention political ideology. Tensions were sparked between Capitalism (United States) and Communism (USSR) in, which political ideology ensures superiority to ones advantage in weapons, technology, and modes of transportation (such as to that of the Space Race).
