"Hold your noise!" cried a terrible voice, as a man started up from among the graves at the side of the church porch. "Keep stil

l, you little devil, or I'll cut your throat!"4 A fearful man, all in coarse grey, with a great iron on his leg. A man with no hat, and with broken shoes, and with an old rag tied round his head. A man who had been soaked in water, and smothered in mud, and lamed by stones, and cut by flints, and stung by nettles, and torn by briars; who limped, and shivered, and glared and growled; and whose teeth chattered in his head as he seized me by the chin.5 "O! Don't cut my throat, sir," I pleaded in terror. "Pray don't do it, sir."6 "Tell us your name!" said the man. "Quick!"7 "Pip, sir."8 "Once more," said the man, staring at me. "Give it mouth!"9 "Pip. Pip, sir."10 "Show us where you live," said the man. "Pint out the place!"11 I pointed to where our village lay, on the flat in-shore among the alder-trees and pollards, a mile or more from the church.12 The man, after looking at me for a moment, turned me upside down, and emptied my pockets. There was nothing in them but a piece of bread. When the church came to itself - for he was so sudden and strong that he made it go head over heels before me, and I saw the steeple under my feet - when the church came to itself, I say, I was seated on a high tombstone, trembling, while he ate the bread ravenously.13 "You young dog," said the man, licking his lips, "what fat cheeks you ha' got."14 I believe they were fat, though I was at that time undersized for my years, and not strong.1

Which details reveal the setting of the passage? Check
leonid [27]

Answer:

"the north and the west are good hunting ground"

"it is forbidden to go east"

"it is there that there are the ashes of the Great Burning"

Explanation:

The excerpt from "By the Waters of Babylon"(short story) by Stephen Vincent Benet narrates John's journey to New York who is a young man initiated into the priesthood. The story occurs in a post-technological world where the priests scavenge the "dead places" for metal where John discovers the ruins and finds the technologies that he wishes to bring back to their people. Thus, the above details best compliment the setting of the passage i.e. post-apocalyptic.

Can someone pls write me a short biography about the author of the unknown, J W Lynne. And pls do not include any absurd answers
MArishka [77]
J.W. Lynne writes inventive stories with twists, turns, and surprises. In ABOVE THE SKY, teens search for the truth in a seemingly-utopian society founded on lies. In THE UNKNOWN, eight children are kidnapped in the night and wake up in a mysterious world full of secrets. In LOST IN LOS ANGELES, a young woman must decide whether to trust an intriguing young man who she meets in a coffee shop. In LOST IN TOKYO, a college student carries out her missing mother's bucket list in a desperate attempt to finally find her. KID DOCS dives into the behind-the-scenes action at a hospital where gifted young children are trained to become pint-sized doctors. In WILD ANIMAL SCHOOL, a teen spends an unforgettable summer caring for elephants, tigers, bears, leopards, and lions at an exotic animal ranch
