Let us first define what Approximate symmetry means.
Approximate Symmetry is a form of balance achieved by the use of similarly balanced (not identical) compositional units on either side of a vertical axis within the picture plane.
The units does not have to be completely identical independently but viewed together, they must show semblance to a balanced artwork.
