When giving a speech, you have to keep in mind the purpose of it, your objective. You also have to know your audience; the age is very important because you will use different devices if you talk to kids, grown ups or elder people. You have to keep them interested too; you have to make them want to stay till the end, if they leave before the ending, you will probably not reach the main objective you set at the beginning.
