Avoidance is not a healthy strategy of coping with conflicts if one wants to maintain a relationship - it might help to stop the current conflict, but both sides will keep bad feelings.
Also, simply, if you will avoid your friend, and if you don't stop avoiding them, then you will never meet again, and you will loose your friendship!
