Consider Matisse's earlier work compared to his creations later on in his life. What do you think of his evolution as an artist?

in the beginning his artwork was still life. Later in life however, his artwork was more abstract. Both were beautiful but I think Matisse probably had something happen to him that gave him the realization to do abstract art
