A particle with only 9 protons and no electrons would be an ion, because one proton contains a +1 charge and one electron contains a -1 charge while neutrons have no charge. This particle, without electrons would then have an ionic charge of +9.

Describe the purpose of the Nucleus in a cell / discuss the DNA structure inside of the nucleus and what is the job of DNA and h
liberstina [14]
The nucleus is able to control and regulate the rest of the cell(it basically tells it what to do). The DNA is made up of chromosomes, the DNAs shape is a double helix and is tightly packed inside of the nucleus. The job of the DNA is to regulate the rest of the cell and tell the cell what kind of cell it is and what job it needs to do(ex all cells are different so the dna determines the type of cell like a bone cell or blood cell) this ties in with genetic because your dna makes up your cells and your cells make up who you are.

The accumulation of mutations can drive the aging process .
Mrac [35]

Yes accumulation of mutation can drive aging process.

Explanation:

The molecular damage that occurs in cells and tissues for a long time due to DNA damage and epigenetic changes gets accumulated in the cell.

This leads to lowering of the homeostasis in the cell during stress conditions and eventually risks of life-threatening diseases as cancers  or neurodegenerative disorders develop.

Due to mutation in the gene DNA repair mechanism also gets affected this  also contributes to the ageing of cells.

The telomere of the chromosome is shortened after every mitotic division but telomerase enzyme keeps adding the DNA sequence preventing shortening aging and death of the cell. If  the mutation occurs in this enzyme it will increase the ageing of cells at high rate.
