Parts of speech are the categories into which words are divided based on their syntactic function (how they are grammatically related to other parts of a sentence).
Nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections and determiners are the most commonly accepted parts of speech in English.
