The person least likely to be considered a progressive in the early 20th century was A) farmer. The progressive idea was aligned with the disbelief in industrialization and urbanization. Progressivism was largely a middle-class movement, strongly based in the urban areas, in which the destitute poor and unorganized had little influence. They called for laws improving the workplace, end to child labor, women's suffrage. The radical wing of the Progressive movement was led by socialist doctrines. In this scenario, all the other options were well represented in the movement, leaving only the farmers category out of this new way of solving social, economical and political problems.

1. Why would wealthy people want a gold standard and common people want

bimetallism?
vampirchik [111]

Supporters of bimetallism offer three arguments for it: (1) the combination of two metals can provide greater monetary reserves; (2) greater price stability will result from the larger monetary base; and (3) greater ease in the determination and stabilization of exchange rates among countries using gold, silver, or bimetallic standards will result.
