Answer:

Southerners were against the tariff because they traded cotton to Europe for manufactured goods, and the tariff made these items more expensive.

Explanation:

In mid-1828 a tariff was created that allowed a tax on foreign manufactured goods. This tariff was very displeasing to Southerners as they traded cotton for European manufactured goods, but these products would be very expensive at this rate.

As you know, southern states had an agrarian economy and needed to import manufactured goods because the production of these products in those states was very insignificant. The northern states produced many manufactured goods, because of political tensions, the southern states did not wish to buy these products from the northern states. In fact, Southerners would like to buy these products from the cheapest sellers, at that time European products were cheaper due to the exchange for cotton, however, the tariff made these products more expensive and 'forced' southern states to buy from the northern states.

Why did many of the boundaries of the new African states created after WWII cause problems
Simora [160]

Answer:

The contemporary boundaries of Africa are artificial, they reflect only the interests of European colonial metropolises and the need to separate their old possesions. They don´t  often reflect cultural, ethnic and historical realities. That´s why many post-independence conflicts have erupted in Africa. Borders drawn by colonialists divided tribes and peoples, without taking into consideration their rights and cultures.

Why did the colonists call the new acts "intolerable"
Musya8 [376]

Answer:

The British passed these acts as punishment for the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Port Act was the first Intolerable Act passed.

Explanation:

The laws were meant to punish the Massachusetts colonists for their defiance in the Tea Party protest in reaction to changes in taxation by the British Government. In Great Britain, these laws were referred to as the Coercive Acts.
